Have you ever been so excited about buying a video game when you got paid that you just did not know what to do? Lets say for example that game was Madden Football and steve madden shoes it cost $49.99 brand new for that year and steve madden shoes when you get paid in two days it is yours my friend. Then next thing you know it is two days later.... you could barely sleep waiting in anticipation and steve madden shoes you got it (first customer in the store mind you) but you got it. You ran home ripped the box opened and steve madden shoes started playing... but while you are playing you realized since this is the updated version there are some new moves you are not quite familiar with so you (unfortunately) have to look at the instructions manual and steve madden shoes see step by step how to conquer that new move! Then walla!! before you know it you have conquered that move and steve madden shoes quite frankly the game in some time.
Now the above scenario is an example of how a manual showed a user step by step how to achieve their ultimate goal of being a good Madden Football player, but this example can be the same for many different experiences in life. Now without a proper guide that can show you what to do in your beginning stages... HOW CAN YOU EVER LEARN!!!
The same can be stated of a good mentor, they will guide you step by step by step, example by example by example, no question should be redundant, the only stupid question is the ones not asked! A truly good mentor will guide you as they have been guided, no holds barred. They should be a reliable source to you via the phone, e-mail, fax.. etc.
In the business of mentoring someone, it is not cookie cutter one. Meaning everybody is not looking just to spend more time with family(some may not have any) or quit their job (some folks actually like their job ), or make more money (what if their already rich, einstein?). You kinda get where I'm going here? Different strokes for different folks!
In closing a good mentor talks to people not about themselves but about that person, people like it when you show a genuine interest in them, it gives that person a feeling that not everyone is a rebel rouser out here trying to make a buck. And hey if you are truly the great mentor that you think you are, that person will eventually warm up to you and steve madden shoes ask about some of your experiences.
Just a thought...
